Iantha Carley Interiors is a boutique interior design firm that has been energizing homes with her signature passion for color and pattern since its founding in 2005.
Iantha’s style formed early on as she grew up in a family of artists – “they made me fearless about mixing unexpected colors, patterns and textures,” she says, adding that she also discovered the celebrated work of British designer David Hicks: “He was the first designer I’d ever heard of, and he’s been my muse, my mentor ever since. I love his use of geometrics, color, and mixing traditional and modern forms.”
Over the years, Iantha has developed a wide network of design sources, which she mines for each project to ensure a client’s interiors are uniquely curated to them and the way they live. In 2020, she started sharing her Rolodex on a weekly Instagram Live channel called DC Design Matters, where she interviews design experts, artisans and a range of industry professionals. “There’s so many incredible designers and artists and craftspeople here – it’s about time we stand up and show people how great we are,” she says of the DC design scene. “I wanted to create an esprit de corps for design in DC.”
Iantha’s own inspiring work has been published widely in newspapers including The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal; Home & Design magazine; and online publications such as the Business of Home and Architectural Digest’s AD Pro and Clever. Many also know her work through her design contributions to multiple charity showhouses over the past decade.
